What a superb piece of theatre! Biographical it was, but with much omitted and even more that had been stylised for the stage, Abramović and Wilson’s work was both beautiful and sharp. The singer Antony (of the New York band Antony and the Johnsons) was a real discovery, while Willem Dafoe could hardly be recognised at first (he has quite a way with accents).
